El Cajon/Alpine Rescue

Great Update: All Piggies Are Now Safely at an Emergency Foster Locations

On Sunday the 24th of April 2023, we were made aware of a horrible neglect case effecting 168 potbelly pigs in El Cajon, Southern California.  The pigs were emaciated, had stunted growth and terrible mange and worms.  There were piglets and more pregnant moms all over.   This was a case where the owner didn't get her pigs fixed and they kept having babies.

The great news is that all the piggies were safely freed from the hell they were living in.  They are at multiple foster locations.  They are all now free of mange, gaining weight, growing and their skin has healed.

About 50 piglets were born shortly after arriving at the new foster locations after one of the rescues who initially helped take in the females failed these pigs.  The new fosters did an amazing job of taking care of the new born piglets and moms giving birth as they arrived. They are all fixed and ready to be adopted now too!

Thanks to generous donation and grants, all the males were fixed by Dr. Chris Burrows of Arizona Mobile Vet Practice and are healing nicely.  They are now available for adoption with our friends at Pebble Ranch in California.

We have all but a few adult females spayed at all locations now, thanks to grants, fundraising and a team of incredible vets, Jeorge Arranda and Affordable Veternary Care.  All of  them are available for adoption.  Please check out our adoption page to see some of the El Cajon piggies waiting for homes and sponsors.

We are still trying to raise funds to keep feeding all of these pigs, so any donation you make to us will help us pay for the piggies at 3 locations we are providing food to.  Pebble Ranch, Treat Them R+ght and Steam Punk are seperately paying for food for the piggies at their location so you can donate to them as well.  (:  We are a team, if you help one of us you help us all!

We are a team effort of individuals and rescues who came together to save them ALL!  None of us are paid and we are all working round the clock still to help these precious piggies!  Pebble Ranch Rescue, 5 Circle Ranch, Steampunk Farms Rescue Barn Saving Animals & Healing Hearts Inc, Erin Odermatt, Erin Letson, Amanda Grey, Lynn, Spenser, Pig Luv Co, Reject Ranch Rescue, Love 4 Pigs, Treat Them R+ght Rescue, a team of volunteers and us at Snouts of Sedona
