Helping Manifest a Better Future for Piggies

Our Mission
We are a 501c3 non-profit sanctuary and rescue organization that helps educate and connect pet pigs in need with forever homes.
What We Do
Snouts of Sedona is a pet pig sanctuary and rescue in Sedona, Arizona. We are a small team of dedicated volunteers who have a deep passion for advocating for and rescuing pet pigs and have done so for over 25 years. To amplify our impact and save more lives, we became a 501(c)(3) non-profit rescue. Since our founding in 2020, we have helped to find foster or forever homes for over 680 pet pigs. We are a vegan organization. (:

Rescue and Networking
We work alongside a team of fellow rescuers and sanctuaries to network across Arizona and California to help pet pigs in need. We are partnered with a dozen shelters where we rescue pigs on the euthanasia list, in addition to helping with neglect, abandonment cases, confiscations, and owner surrenders. We arrange for transportation, medical care, spay/neuters, and foster or forever homes for as many of them as we can fund. On average, we help 80-120 piggies a year.
The sad fact is that the majority of pet pigs will be rehomed by their owners at some point in their lives. We work hard to keep pigs with good owners when possible. We do this through individual owner education and, as funds allow, provide owners the tools they need to properly care for their pigs (spays/neuters, behavioral help, weight loss, hoof trims, etc).

Sanctuary
We have given a forever home to 33 pet piggies at our main location, another 3 who are with a friend until we get a bigger space, and we help provide financial support to 11 at our board member's location. These loving souls came from shelters, neglect cases, confiscation cases, and owner surrenders. Many of them have special medical needs. They enjoy playing in the yard as well as snuggling and watching TV, just like a dog would. Our specialty is offering pigs an indoor home, like many of them were used to before they ended up at the shelter or rehomed.

Piggy Education
Our education program helps people see pigs for who they truly are, living beings, just like dogs and cats, with big feelings, strong opinions, and unforgettable personalities. We educate the public, support potential adopters and pig guardians, and collaborate with other sanctuaries to share knowledge and best practices. By making learning approachable and fun, we help pigs land in the right homes and stay there. We are strong believers that opening eyes opens hearts and can encourage a plant-based lifestyle, saving countless lives. (stay tuned for our new Education page we are working on)

We Are Looking to Expand
Snouts of Sedona is on the lookout for a larger property to rescue even more piggies in need! Our backyard sanctuary is bursting at the seams with 33 happy piggies living indoors in a cozy 1700 sqft space, and 0.67 acres outside. In order to take in more piggies at our sanctuary... we need to find a new place to call home.
Why This Expansion Matters 💛
Every year, more pigs are surrendered because people didn’t realize how big, smart, and long-lived pigs are.
This expansion will help us:
-
🏠 Take in more indoor pigs who need an indoor-safe space
-
🩺 Support seniors and special-needs pigs with comfort and stability
-
🐾 Create a sanctuary layout that reduces stress and improves welfare
-
🌱 Build a model that’s sustainable for the pigs and the humans caring for them
If you know of a property that might fit, or you want to help fund the land + buildout—please reach out through our contact form or e-mail us at Colleen@snoutsofsedona.org
Just imagine the incredible impact we could have with a spacious 3000-5000 sqft barndominium!
Core criteria:
-
🌄 Acreage: ideally 10+ acres (more is welcome) with safe, usable land
-
📜 Zoning: sanctuary/livestock-friendly rules and minimal restrictions
-
🚫 No HOA barriers or rules that block animal sanctuary use
-
💧 Reliable water: well or municipal
-
🏚️ Indoor potential: existing buildings or the ability to build indoor space
-
⛱️ Shade + shelter: room for shade structures, covered runs, trees
-
🌡️ Avoid extremes: as much as possible, a place without extreme temperatures and a safer, steadier climate. Piggies prefer no snow, no freezing temps, and nothing above 110. As safe as possible from natural disasters.
-
🕊️ Safe, calm setting: a community where animals are welcomed, and safety is a priority
-
🚑 Access: practical distance to supplies and veterinary care
-
🌄 Nothing too far for the community or volunteers to get to.
-
📜 Ability to offer education workshops for the community and piggy guardians.
How You Can Help ✨
There are a few powerful ways to move this forward:
-
🌿 Offer land opportunities (donation, legacy gifts, below-market possibilities)
-
💛 Support financially (land fund, indoor buildout, fencing, shade, safety upgrades)
-
🤝 Connect us to builders, zoning experts, landowners, or community allies
We will be posting more details and working on a capital campaign. Let's save some more piggies in need!!!
